Samson

Question: Posted July 6th, 2010

Found starting in Judges 13. A man who may be the strongest man ever to live? So how does he loose that strength? Was his true weakness his hair, his faith, or a woman?

Answer:
Wow! Samson was one strong dude!
His true weakness was his flesh (Hebrews 12:2, 1 Cor 9:27, 2 Cor. 13:5, Titus 1:16). It got the better of him time and again. Samson was like a lot of people who are undisciplined and lack diligence. Although he had struggles with the flesh his purpose, gifts, and callings were still on his life. These, the Bible says, are without repentance…meaning non-exchagable. Yeah he struggled but I beleive he did try many times to be who he was supposed to be.  Judges 15:20 says that he judged Israel twenty years. He did lots of good things. But ultimately if we continue to disobey God, the curse, or the result of our bad choices, will catch up. Did Samson fulfill all of the call of God on his life…I think not.

The strength Samson had ultimately was in the purpose on his life. This man was to impact the Phillistines in a mighty way. The hair length was a means to an end. Like the man who was told to dip seven times in the Jordan and his skin would be healed. (2 Kings 5:14) The power was not in the water…but it was used to help this man believe in the true power. Or the man in John 9:6-7,  Jesus made mud and put on his eyes and then told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam…the power wasn’t in the mud, or the water..but it was used as a means to the end….the guys eyes being healed. Did Jesus heal eveyone using this type of ministry? No He didn’t…

So was Samson all bad?…he did have faith…and strong faith! He is mentioned in Hebrews 11:32 as part of the great cloud of witnesses.

He ran a race…a good race…but in the end he is an example of more things not to do than things to do. If God tells you not to cut your hair….cutting it would be rebelling against God and that choice opens the door up to the curse in your life.

Matthew and Mark

Question: Posted on June 10th, 2010

Why are Mathew and Mark basically the same book?

Answer:

The basic answer is Matthew and Mark are accounts written from different vantage points.
Two different people who experienced many of the same things but their vantage point or perspective gave each a unique understanding.

Matthew 18:19

Question: Posted on June 9th, 2010

“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” Mathew 18:19

Does this mean you can’t believe for something by yourself? Do you have to have somebody in agreement with you?

Answer:

This passage could and does apply to prayer in general but specifically in context Jesus was showing us how to deal with a “brother” or someone who is “saved” but has caused some conflict of some sort. VS. 15 says that if someone sins against you tell them about it. If they repent..move on from it. If the brother doesn’t think he did anything, take it to the next level…Let two witnesses make a case against him. Still if he refuses, take it to the church…still yet, if he refuses….This is where VS. 20 comes in…If this person still refuses to accecpt the error of his way Jesus said that He would become a third member giving the needed wisdom to deal properly with the situation.

So the question asked was: “Does this mean you can’t believe for something by yourself? Do you have to have somebody in agreement with you?”
No! You can believe for something on your own.
Mark 11: 23-25, “…whoever…therefore I say to youyou ask…you pray…believe that you receiveyou will have them…”

The thing about having someone join their faith with yours is that more can be accomplished.

Wall of Faith

Filed under: Wall of Faith Blog — Tags: — admin @ 10:06 am

Today I finished putting the “Wall of Faith” up on the main website page! The Lord has told us that all we want or need for the youth house is a “YES”!  Now that the wall is up on the web the Lord can lead others to be apart of our “harvest” for what He has asked us to do!

Don’t let the “big ticket” items discourage you. If the Lord is leading you to purchase an item for us He will also provide you with resources you need to get it!

The devil is a liar! It’s time that the church have the things we need to get the job done!
The right things to get a job done with excellence!
These are exiting times!

Can Women Preach?

Question: Posted on May 20th, 2010

What scriptures approve of women preaching?

All of these positions and or offices are used to edify the body of Christ and for the training up and equipping other believers for the work of the ministry. Could any of these positions be held by a female? Most certainly yes!

Answer:
Let’s start by looking at Ephesians 4:11-12 NKJV
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saint for the work of the ministry…”

Exodus 15:24: Miriam, the daughter of Aaron was a prophet.
Judges 4:4 & 5: Deborah was a prophet-judge.
2 Kings 22:14; 2 Chronicles 34:22 Huldah, a prophet, triggered a religious renewal.
Acts 2:17 Daughters shall be able to prophecy.
Acts 9:36 The author of Luke referred to a female disciple of Jesus by her Aramaic name Tabitha, who was also known by her Greek name Dorcas.
Acts 18:26 Aquila and Priscilla teaching.
Acts 21:8: Philip the evangelist had four unmarried daughters who were prophets.
Philippians 4:2: Paul refers to two women, Euodia and Syntyche, as his co-workers who were active evangelicals, spreading the gospel.
Romans 16:1: Paul refers to Phoebe as a minister or deacon of the church at Cenchrea. The Greek word which describes her function is  “diakonos” which means literally “official servant.” She is the only deacon in the Bible to be identified by name. Some translations say “deaconess”. Paul later refers to Phoebe as a woman, calling her “our sister.
Romans 16:3: Paul refers to Priscilla as another of his “fellow workers in Christ Jesus” (NIV) Other translations refer to her as a “co-worker“. The original Greek word is “synergoi“, which literally means “fellow worker” or “colleague.” It is worth noting that Paul refers to Priscilla and her husband as “Priscilla and Aquila” in this passage and as “Aquila and Priscilla” in 1 Corinthians 16:19. It would appear that the order is not important to Paul. As in Galatians 3:28, he apparently believed that there is no distinction between male and female among those who have been baptized into Christ.
1 Corinthians 11:5 Women can prophecy.

Are women “able” as in have the mental and or emotional aptitude to teach or preach? The answer would be yes.
Are there women who are filled with the Holy Ghost? Yes…
Acts 1:8 says then that they have received power to be witnesses.

Later Paul expounded on the fact that “in Christ” we are all one (Galatians 3:28-29) and that we all have access whether we are male or female to the promises of God and the covenant of Abraham.

None of these passages reflect any absolutes on this subject but give us some clarity on the heart behind it. Hope this helps.

Scriptures For Future Spouse

Filed under: April, Need ANSWERS? — admin @ 11:18 am

Question: posted on April 7th, 2010

What Scriptures can I think on to stay in faith about my future husband and keep my mind from thinking about boys all the time?

Answer:

The Scriptures listed here are good starting points to begin praying God’s will to be done in your life as it concerns your future spouse. These will help build a road that will take you right to where you need to be to receive all of the plan of God for your life.

2 Timothy 2:22 (NLT)
Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.

Song of Solomon 2:7
I charge you, O daughters of God, Do not stir up nor awaken love Until the time is right.

Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself in the LORD, And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first of all His kingdom and His way of doing and being right, and then all these things added together will be given to you.

Habakkuk 2:3
For the vision is for an appointed time and it hastens to the fulfillment; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait earnestly for it, because it will surely come; it will not be late for its appointed day.

Jeremiah 29:11 (The Message)
I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

Psalm 139:16 (NLT)
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

James 1:17
“Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.

Philippians 4:8 (NLT)
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Proverbs 4:23
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

7 Days or 7,000 Years of Creation?

Filed under: March, Need ANSWERS? — admin @ 12:23 pm

Question: posted on March 9th, 2010

“In the Bible it says that to God a day is a thousand years and a thousand years a day. Does this mean that in Genesis when God created the world, that he did it in 7000 years instead of 7 days?”

Answer:

In this case no. Creation did not take 7,000 years to complete. With a little study we see this answer clear in Genesis 1:5 NKJV
“God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.”
In this passage of scripture the writer tells us the standard for measuring the “day”. In vs.5 the standard for one “day” is from evening (singular) until the morning (singular). Traditionally the Hebrews began each new day at sunset. So a complete 24 hour period as we know it today would be from, for example, 7:00pm the end or evening to 7:00pm the beginning or morning of the next “day.” Taking this thought further let’s look at when God commanded that everyone take a “day” of rest every Sabbath. If we were to follow the 1 day = 1,000 years idea then there would only be a Sabbath “day” or “period” every 7,000 years and that “period” or “day” of rest would last for 1,000 years!

Hello 2010!

Filed under: Announcements, Pastor Justin Goff, The Path Conference — Tags: — admin @ 9:27 am

Wow, it has been awhile since my last post…Lots has happened in these past few months. All good, but all new!

Where to start….
1. We are taking at least a year off from hosting The Path Conference…. :’( I know I know)…but it is always good to follow the Lord! I am really exited about what God is doing. God is a God of forward movement! So know that if He has asked us not to have The Path, something BIG is on the horizon!!!!!

2. We have started something new at The Core…we are calling it…well I don’t have a name for the “whole” plan but let me explain it some to you…
The Holy Spirit has shown us a six week plan that will help us maximize our youth services to:
     A. Increase our excellence in everything we do
     B. Continue building a strong “core” group
     C. Get the WORD of God out!

It will look like this:
Week 1 - Small Group Discipleship - “Who You Are In Christ” message
Week 2 - Red Line - This is a high energy service with a focus on the WORD
Week 3 - Family Night - We will pull all of the “production” and gather as a youth family…think comfy and warm where everyone is loved
Week 4 - Red Line - This is a high energy service with a focus on the WORD
Week 5 - Prep Week - This night we will spend our time praying, and asking the Lord to lead us in the following week to invite people to the next week service!
Week 6 - REVOLUTION NIGHT - Red Line night on steroids! It all about Jesus, who He is and do you know Him!
You will want to be a part these service!

Ok, I think that got you caught up to where I am at right now.
